FREE Estimates!
CR Benge Construction replaces windows, sliding glass doors, and exterior doors for homeowners in Bonita Springs, Naples, Fort Myers, and the rest of Lee and Collier County. If your windows are fogging between the panes, your slider drags on its track, or you’re tired of hanging shutters every time a storm turns toward the Gulf, window replacement is usually the long-term fix. We’re a Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC1527945), so the permit, the installation, and the stucco and drywall work around each opening are handled by one team.

What We Replace
- Windows. Single-hung, horizontal-roller, casement, and fixed picture windows, including the transoms over sliders.
- Sliding glass doors. Two-, three-, and four-panel sliders that open to the lanai or pool deck, plus larger multi-panel openings.
- Front entry doors. Single and double entry doors, with or without sidelites, in a range of finishes and hardware styles.
- French doors and side doors. Lanai French doors, garage-entry doors, and the secondary exterior doors that tend to get overlooked until they swell, stick, or leak.
Most homes we see have a mix: a few original windows, a slider that’s been repaired twice, and a front door that’s faded in the afternoon sun. We can replace everything at once or start with the openings that matter most and plan the rest for later.
Impact-Rated or Standard Glass?
Most homes in Lee and Collier County sit in what the Florida Building Code calls a wind-borne debris region. In plain terms, the glass in your windows, sliders, and exterior doors needs protection from flying debris during a hurricane. That protection comes from one of two places:
- Impact-rated windows and doors use laminated glass in reinforced frames. The glass can crack when it’s hit, but it’s designed to stay in the frame, so there’s nothing to put up when a storm is coming.
- Standard glass with shutters costs less up front, but it depends on someone installing the shutters in time, and on the panels being stored, labeled, and in working order.
Impact glass also cuts outside noise and blocks much of the UV light that fades floors and furniture, which is why plenty of homeowners choose it even where shutters already exist. Many also ask their insurance agent about wind-mitigation credits after upgrading, since a wind-mitigation inspection documents what’s installed.
Why the Opening Matters as Much as the Window
A new window is only as good as the opening it’s set into. On a block-and-stucco home, pulling out an old window usually disturbs the stucco around the frame and the drywall around the inside of the opening. If that patch work is rushed, water finds its way in at the corners, which is exactly where most window leaks start.
Because we run our own drywall and stucco crews, we repair the exterior stucco, seal the perimeter, and finish the drywall inside as part of the same job, so the new window looks like it was always there. How a Window and Door Replacement Works
- Walkthrough and measuring. We look at every opening you’re considering, check the framing and stucco around each one for water damage, and measure for the new units.
- Product selection. We go over frame styles, glass options, and the wind ratings your home needs, then put the scope and pricing in writing.
- Permitting. Window and exterior door replacements generally require a permit, and the products need Florida product approval with a wind rating that matches your home’s location. We prepare the application and the product paperwork.
- Installation. We work through your home opening by opening. Each unit is anchored, sealed, and checked for smooth operation before we move to the next.
- Finish work and inspection. Our crews repair the stucco and drywall around each opening, and we coordinate the final inspection with your local building department.
Window and Door Replacement FAQs
How long does window replacement take?
It depends on the number of openings and the products you choose. Impact-rated windows and doors are usually built to order, so the manufacturing lead time is often longer than the installation itself. Your estimate includes a realistic schedule for your home.
Do I need a permit to replace windows or exterior doors?
In most cases, yes. Building departments across Lee and Collier County treat window and exterior door replacement as permitted work, and inspectors check that the products are rated for where your home sits. We handle the permit and schedule the inspections.
Can you replace just one window or a single door?
Yes. Some projects start with a failing slider or a weathered front door, and others replace every opening at once. We’ll help you decide what makes sense now and what can wait.
If I install impact windows, do I still need shutters?
Openings protected by impact-rated windows and doors don’t need shutters as well. If only some openings are upgraded, the rest still need shutters or another approved form of protection.
Do you replace windows and doors during a larger remodel?
Yes. New windows and doors can be folded into one of our whole home remodels. On a 2,600 sq ft renovation in Pelican Landing, new impact windows were part of the open-concept conversion.
